What courses would be helpful in becoming a comic book artist?
Ok I'd like to become a comic book artist but I want to improve my drawings first and so i want to go to uni or college. So does anyone know the best courses? Im 17 btw so still in school but ill be leaving next year and so it would be nice to know what im doing : ). Thanks!
I would suggest a major in illustration. Some art schools even focus on "sequential art." Illustration will give you the all the basic skills for drawing, including form, inking, color, and composition. Style will be discussed as well, generally after they are sure you have a grasp on the basics. I suggest making sure to go to a school that offers drawing courses, as much as illustration is about personal style, the characters really come to life if you have a thorough understanding of the realistic. Look at some art schools maybe, they often show you the required courses for the majors if you are looking for specifics. Comic book art still has to follow the same principles as more "fine art" work.
