BATMAN: BRAVE & THE BOLD - "Menace of the Madniks" Review
They really love their comic books over at Batman, The Brave and The Bold. Reuniting Booster Gold and Ted Kord, the original Blue Beetle was a nice nod to the late 80’s early nineties Justice League books, but they don&rsquo...
One of my other hobbies is paintball. Its such a rush to be running through the woods and shooting close friends with air powered paintball guns. I play with a paintball team in the NW called OK Company and have a lot of fun with these guys and gals. Being a comic book fan I've often thought of combining my two hobbies with a costume, maybe for a Halloween game or something like that. Turns out some guys from Gloversville, New York beat me to it. They have a paintball team called The Avengers and so far their roster includes Captain America, Venom, Hulk, Ant Man, and Iron Man.
You may laugh at these guys showing their comic colors on the battlefield but I applaud them. Comic fans often use Halloween or conventions as the excuse to put their comic costumes on, but there are other ways to dress up and have fun. My callsign in my group is Captain A and I still plan on making a Captain America costume one of these days. Have you ever found a way to incorporate your love of comics into your everyday life or hobbies outside of conventions and Halloween? Post below.
I have been out of the comic book world for 15 years and a friend recommended Josh Whedon's Astonishing X-men vol 1 - 4. I loved it and looking for more comic books that are just a fun read with great art. What do you recommend?

Comic books still relevant in contemporary entertainment
One of my favorite things about going home is catching up with the months of comic books I have not read. My days of covering my ears whenever I hear “Hal Jordan this” or “Batman and Robin that” are temporarily over.
Marvel Comics Amazing Marvel Comics Celebrate TRON Legacy
As we all sit with our fingernails embedded in our kneecaps watching the trailers for TRON Legacy, (I saw one in 3D before Alice in Wonderland a few months ago WOW,) it turns out that those in the best position to show their excitement are the folks over at Marvel Comics. To celebrate their brains melting down in wait for the epic black-plus-light sci-fi epic adventure, Marvel Comics will ...
I'm taking a class right now entitled, "Advanced Studies in Children's Literature," and one of the assignments was to look at some of the classic illustrators of early children's book works. The thing that caught my eye was how detailed these artists were. Many of today's children's illustrators have a more cartoony style but these artists drew lavish pieces of highly detailed art depicting elements of the story. These illustrators really reminded me of some of today's comic book artists. One in particular was L. Leslie Brooke, who illustrated classic nursery rhymes and fables in the book Golden Goose. When I saw his art, I swear I saw an uncanny resemblance to the work of Frank Quietly. Check out this picture from The Golden Goose and this one from All Star Superman. I think the resemblance in style is great and remarks to the detail that these current and classic illustrators are putting them into their work.
